| CAR WASH REHABILITATION
GRM-SL is working in collaboration with Dutch charity Child at Venture to rehabilitate a youth car wash centre on Beach Road, Lumley, Freetown. This project includes cementing the ground, providing modern equipment such as a spray machine, building a small office/reception and conducting business training for the youth to run the business more effectively.
INTER-SCHOOL DEBATE COMPETITION
GRM-SL, in partnership with Sierra Leone Action Network on Small Arms, held a one-day inter-school debate competition on the topic of human security on 23rd March in Kenema town. 4 schools took part in the debate and the overall winner was Holy Trinity Secondary School.
Holy Trinity will now go on to compete in SLANSA's national school debating final in Freetown later this year. Pictured bottom left are the winners of the debate.

| COMPUTER DONATION
GRM-SL received 15 computers from Computer Aid in February. The shipment costs were covered by Orkney Independent Financial Advisors. The computers will now be used to open ICT centres in GRM-SL's Freetown and Kenema offices.

SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP NEWS
2 new Scottish schools joined the partnership programme at the end of 2008 – Earnhill Primary, Greenock is now partnered United Islamic Primary School, Kenema and St Gerardine School, Moray is now partnered with National Islamic Primary School, Kenema. To launch the partnership, GRM-SL organised the recording of cultural dances/plays at each of the schools in March to send to their partner school in Scotland. GRM-SL has also helped coordinate letter writing at each of the 5 schools this term

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT NEWS
GRM-SL is continuing to help schools in Kenema town thanks to the help of Scottish school partners. St Charles Lwanga was donated 12 desks and chairs for their teachers as well as a classroom divider courtesy of Sacred Heart Primary School, Greenock. S.L.C is currently getting a new 2 classroom building thanks to a generous donation from Airyhall Primary School and Princess Diana School is soon to receive new benches and chairs and a donation to cover rent thanks to help of Shapinsay Primary School, Orkney

2009/10 BOARD OF TRUSTEES
GRM-SL has set up a board of trustees for 2009/10. The board of trustees met for the first time in January. Trustees include Mr Joseph Kamara, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at UNDP and Dr Martin Gbonda, Senior Economist at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. More information about board members, alongside minute meetings, will soon be posted on GRM-SL’s website
FUNDRAISING VISIT
Trustee of the WLAF and volunteer community fundraiser Jacqueline Besant visited GRM-SL in Sierra Leone in March. This enabled her to visit a number of programmes which she has helped fundraise for.
